Fictional 'Dirty Bombs' to Go Off in Phoenix, Oregon and Guam AP Posted: 2007-10-03 05:54:51
WASHINGTON (Oct. 3) - America is preparing for its biggest terrorism exercise ever next week when three fictional "dirty bombs" go off and cripple transportation arteries in two major U.S. cities and Guam, according to a document obtained by The Associated Press.
Yet even as this drill begins, details from the previous national exercise held in 2005 have yet to be publicly released - information that is supposed to help officials prepare for the next real attack.
Wednesday House lawmakers were expected to demand answers, including why the "after-action" report from 2005 hasn't been made public. Congress has required the exercise since 2000, but has done little in the way of oversight beyond attending the actual events...
Guam?!!!
But Wait, there's more...
from Scott Ridder
...9/11 linkage strategies have worked in the past, regardless of factual merit. One only need recall Saddam Hussein and Iraq to understand how easily the American public, courtesy of war-minded politicians and their co-conspirators in the mainstream media, can be so easily led down the path of holding one party accountable for the actions of another. Saddam had nothing to do with the events of 9/11, and we now occupy Iraq. Similarly, Iran had nothing to do with 9/11, and yet due in part to the distortion of fact taking place concerning allegations of Iranian “terror” activity inside Iraq, the link is clear, at least in the minds of many Americans. President Bush calls Iran a “state sponsor of terror." The military claims Iran is carrying out terror attacks against U.S. forces in Iraq. The Iranian president wanted to visit Ground Zero and was widely condemned by those who plot regime change in Iran. The Americans, bombarded with these false connections, then conclude Iran was part of the 9/11 plot. The logic is so simple, so flawed and yet so dangerously accessible to the (simple*) minds of an American people fundamentally ignorant of the true situation in Iran and the Middle East today.

For the very same reason you(or anybody) don't post your home address, PH NO, SSN, bank PIN's and everything else about yourself on this site.(or any other)
It's called SECURITY!
Ya' wanta' just give the bad guys the keys to a B-52? "Oh, and while you're at it guys, here's the combination to the bunker holding the nukes."
blah, blah, blah...
The reason couldn't be that...
"a 2006 White House report on Hurricane Katrina criticized the department for not having a system to address and fix the problems discovered in the TOPOFF exercises.
"The most recent Top Officials (TOPOFF) exercise in April 2005 revealed the federal government's lack of progress in addressing a number of preparedness deficiencies, many of which had been identified in previous exercises."
Sounds more like CYA than Security.
Moving on...
It's all Bill Clinton's fault...
"Security"? You must be joking -- or just displaying your ignorance again. They are obligated by law to provide this information to committees whose members have security clearances that entitle them to the information. Otherwise, how are they supposed to evaluate the results of the drills?
What terrorists? What dirty bombs?
Let's focus our fear on the really important stuff (such as) a headline in my local newspaper today:
Global warming could cause rise in sewer bills.
LOL! That was pretty good, Lee.
I've got a better idea. Instead of carrying out drills to protect ourselves from our own government attacks, why don't we execute the government officials responsible for 9/11 and be done with it?
And to be sure it doesn't happen again, replace them all with women.
The reason these "drills" haven't taken off is probably because Americans aren't buying into the propaganda, nor have they for a long time, according to many 9/11 polls.
Besides, given that 9/11 happened on a day when the largest "anti-terror" drills were being carried out on the entire Eastern Seaboard (by the military, at least), I don't think I'd be jumping up and down to hear the news that an anti-terror drill "is coming to a theater near you."
And here's my advice to anybody in this country whose city or town suffers a disaster any time in the near future (and there is no distinction here between "man-made" or "natural" because chances are, if it happens any time between now and January, 2009, it's all man-made).
Get a gun and shoot anybody coming into your city carrying an assault rifle who is not a member of the National Guard.
"(and there is no distinction here between "man-made" or "natural" because chances are, if it happens any time between now and January, 2009, it's all man-made)."
How did you know I have the "Super Secret Make California Disappear Button" on my desk?
My "team" of OPS and I are also working on a Stupid Detector Zapper Ray for use at airports. Walk through the scanner, "yep...no brain there"...ZAP!!
Talk about life imitating art, I think Lex Luthor beat you to the punch on that one, Life.
I think I'll start buying "future beachfront property" now on the east side of the San Andreas fault, thank you very much.

LOL -- now we are dating ourselves. Any time I say such a thing to anybody under 30, they all look at me completely baffled.
For those of you wondering, go rent the original "Superman" movie from 1978.
It looks like protesting occupations has taken on a different form these days, and appropriately so...
"U.S. protests shrink while antiwar sentiment grows"
http://tinyurl.com/24t8qs
As the article points out, it is probably a mistake for Congress to take the diminishing sizes of crowds as an indication of actual occupation sentiment, as they found out in the last election cycle, and will find out again in the next election cycle.
According to the article, the largest anti-war crowds were in 2003, yet the 2004 election cycle was a complete success for pro-occupation Congresspeople.
The sizes of the anti-war crowds decreased significantly by 2006, yet the 2006 election cycle was a complete disaster for pro-occupation Congresspeople.
I always thought a few well placed faxes -- and heavy duty pressure on Congress to do their friggin' jobs and vote according to the will of the constituents in their districts instead of the will of the corporations financing their re-election campaigns -- goes a lot farther than yelling in the streets these days. Protesters in the streets are yelling at the wrong people. They should be yelling at Congress via faxes.
Being single, I date myself several times a week...
..but seriously folks...
How in the hell are they gonna' work the bugs out of the system if they don't practice and find out what the bugs are and fix them and then try it again to see if they've corrected them.
Use a little common sense instead of seeing the "Evil Empire" behind everything.
That story about roads being eaten alive by landslides in San Diego is probably Mother Nature for real, Life, though I guess you can never rule out local shenanigans by local politicians (i.e., city officials giving the contract to build cheap roads to cousin Maurice, who has no experience in building roads, etc.)
The "drills" are probably being used to convince politicians, local and non-local, that an "independent" army of neo-nazis will be needed to come in, in case of emergency.
Preparing for disaster is always a good idea, but I suspect these drills are more about getting people in a certain brain-washed state of mind than they are about tactical considerations.
What I will be interested in the most, if they give out the info, is how the National Guard fits into these drills -- and what contingencies are in place in case the National Guard is not available because they are too busy participating in the current nazi occupation of Iraq.
Cities run emergency disaster drills all the time. My brother is batallion chief of a fairly large city in Southern California, and although he is a hard-core right-wing conservative type, I don't know of a single person I would trust more to handle an emergency situation for the entire city -- including coordination of efforts with all the battalion chiefs in the surrounding cities, etc. I have complete faith in my local police and fire departments -- at least a lot moreso than the federal gov right now.
As I said, the only thing people should be practicing right now is how to shoot neo-nazis trying to come in and take over their local municipalities after a "disaster."
Our government doesn't attack us Inspector Gadget. Those rag-head, peace lovers you see on the tube making the threats are the guilty ones.
Which is it? Americans aren't buy it or (according to most on this site) the governemnt is scaring the living shit out of us? Don't you see the the same scene I see everyday? People terrified to leave their homes? Living in total fear and never enjoying themselves? Never socializing? I don't think it is not so much Americans not "buying" it as it is Americans becoming way too comfortable. Just like we were before 9/11. Thought it could never happen here.
I guess it isn't a good idea to prepare for a disaster. We should follow the great example of the local government and residents of New Orleans.
Keeping with the overall theme of conspiracy, cover-ups, and little green nazis...check this out...

Just when ya' think you've heard it all.
It doesn't have to be one or the other, Lee. I'm sure there are all sorts out there:
1) People who think 9/11 was an inside job and therefore (rightly) don't trust whatever the government says or does concerning "terrorist attacks" or "security issues."
2) People who think the gov is at least lying to them about 9/11 but don't care enough to be concerned one way or another about what the government is spewing about "terrorist attacks."
3) People who believe 9/11 was 100% outside terrorists and are frightened of something like that, or worse, happening again from outside terrorists.
And everything in between.
I say the people in category one and two are the majority right now and growing, but I have to get the specific links to the polls. There seem to be many polls that support this.
As for New Orleans, people in New Orleans should have heeded my advice, in retrospect, and shot anybody coming into their city with assault rifles who were not National Guard.
Apparently, there were a lot of Black-hater people there flashing odd-looking badges around as if they had some authority. What authority did Blackwater have there? That's what I want to know, along with what happened to the 705 probably mostly dark-skinned people who are still not accounted for since Katrina.
Plus, why is it so difficult to "determine the cause of death" of so many dead bodies that were found and what does "indirect death" mean, exactly, in this description from Wiki...
"As of May 19, 2006, the confirmed death toll (total of direct and indirect deaths) stood at 1,836, mainly from Louisiana (1,577) and Mississippi (238).[27][28] However, 705 people remain categorized as missing in Louisiana,[29] and many of the deaths are indirect, but it is almost impossible to determine the exact cause of some of the fatalities."
It's not like it was an earthquake and tsunami, and the surge washed people to sea.
Lousiana has a far greater percentage of "missing people" to "deaths" than the Indian Ocean Earthquake and Tsumani of 2005 (all numbers from Wiki with references available there):
Earthquake and Tsunami (2005): 186,983 dead and 42,883 missing = about 1 person missing for every four deaths
Hurricane Katrina, Louisiana residents (2005): 1,577 deaths and 705 missing = about 1 person missing for every two deaths.
WTF?
"along with what happened to the 705 probably mostly dark-skinned people who are still not accounted for since Katrina."
Because most of the missing are/were prisoners/cons/felons/
probation/parolees who saw a chance to get the hell out of Dodge and disappear.
Do you ever read the real news nic? Sometimes I wonder. I spent a week in Ms and La, and that's one of the main topics that they were all happy about...all the scumbags were leaving and good riddance to them.

Wow, that's a new low, loserboy. It never ceases to amaze me that you and lee have so few ethics or scruples that you can just post whatever you scrape off the bottom of your shoe and pretend like it's true.
Britney the "child abuser" lost custody of the kids on Monday because she didn't have a drivers license, not because of drugs. Her money-grubbing slimeball of an attorney, instead of helping her get her act together, purposely sold her up river, too, I am sure.
http://tinyurl.com/366bw7
This is so related to 9/11 issues and civil rights violations it isn't even funny. Family Court is the Gitmo Bay of parents around the country, and the children are the ones being tortured.
Check out what another "expert" slimeball says about where the "evidence" of child abuse comes from...
According to Beverly Hills family law attorney Daniel Jaffe, the court has probably lost faith in Spears' ability to be a fit parent.
"The court must have felt that the kids are in danger with her," Jaffe said. "This would be an unusual order, but, as you can see in the tabloids, she hasn't been behaving properly."
From the tabloids? Yeah, that's just about right. Sort of the same place the government got its information for 9/11.
This guy seems to be more on target for accurate reporting, and as usual, it is not reported this way in the mainstream media...

And it is not "an unusual order" at all. It is really driving me batty how well these slimeballs know how to play the game, including talking to the media...

Go sit in a Waffle House in Jackson Miss a week after it happened and spend 4 hours BS'n with the locals...B&W alike. The Blacks were the ones who really ripped their "brothers & sista's" a new asshole. Even had me blushin' listening to them talk like that.
And about a dozen other facts of life. But that would be reality, so it will be difficult for you.
RE: Britney. We here at S4I have to contend almost daily with the circus that is the B.S. - paparazzi co-dependant relationship.
It is a world where traffic laws do not apply.
It is not a good environment for adults let alone kids. Someone's going to get hurt.
If we know the "missing" 705 went to Houston, how can they be "missing" then? Or are you saying the crime rate in Houston went up because a bunch of black refugees came to town?
Sorry, Life, but personal annecdotes that are lifted straight from the Neo-Con Book of White Supremacist Urban Legends don't count here.
My favorite is always the old, "But the blacks were the biggest critics of other blacks, and so it's okay for me to be a white supremacist" BS.
You're not too bad, though, as far as white supremacists go. You seem to be just the condescending, can't-you-see-it's-a-compliment-when-I'm-surprised-you're-not-filthy-as-I've-always-thought type, like BO. Now Limbaugh I'm not so sure about. I can definitely see that guy wearing a white hood and burning crosses!
Britney: The "children's safety" is a crock used to take parental rights away without due process, to fuel a battle between parents so that the real criminal, the government, escapes undetected, and to milk money out of the whole situation for all involved in aiding and abetting in perpetuating the crime (i.e. family law attorneys especially, but a whole slew of court cronies that come in as "experts").
It is the equivalent to "national security" being a crock used to take civilian rights away without due process, to fuel battles between warring factions in Iraq so that the real criminal, the government, escapes undetected, and to milk money out of the whole situation for all involved in aiding and abetting in perpetuating the crime (i.e., Congress especially, but also a whole slew of defense contractors, etc.)
The true victims in both cases -- Iraqis and children -- are of course the ones the government is supposedly "saving from harm" through all this money-grubbing slime.
I know. The only difference between how things have played out with Britney and how things have played out with me is that it took about two or three years to fully criminalize me (basically Mother Teresa with an occassional swear word) into "being a danger to the children" -- and it only took about a week to do it for Britney.
It's a scam, and I've been working on it for a lot longer than 9/11, believe me:

"Those who doubted the official explanation also tended to be low-income, single, and young. They most frequently associated with a liberal or progressive ideology."
My Gawd!!! Who woulda' thought it?
I need to say one last Britney thing for tonight:
I don't want to offend my gay homies here (homies = friends, BTW -- and I'm not trying to be cute here, I really didn't know that myself until I learned it from my homies in cell block H!) but...
it is really creeping me out, given my own experiences, that a gay man, Perez Hilton, seems to be the one fiercely leading pack in attacks against Britney and is actually cheering on the severing of the mother-child bond she has with those boys, like there is something more to it that goes beyond Britney (as I am positive is what is happening in my case).
It's almost like he is hyper-jealous of Britney simply as a woman here in her receiving unconditional love from two young boys (as it happens in all parent-child bonds), and that's the part that is creeping me out.
Also, I used to have a little fun at PH's site every once in a while, but both Rosie and I agree that it has gotten kinda dark with this Britney stuff lately (and creepy for me), especially some of the comments from his fans on the Britney stuff, where some over-the-top hatred toward her is really shining through. It's a bit scary to me because it seems to go beyond simple Biting Vaginae Syndrome when it involves kids like this, and whatever it is, it doesn't seem to bode well for the good of society in general, especially if it represents the majority view, which as we know here at S4I is always the $20 question...
You didn't read it properly, Life.
The cleanest indicator of who does or does not buy into the government story is mostly dependent on whether they were ever even given the information in the first place.
The people still buying the government story were also the ones who get most of their information from mainstream media like TV and newspapers, which do not even mention 9/11 issues -- ever.
The people who got their news and information mostly from the web, where 9/11 information is prevalent, were much more likely not to buy into the government conspiracy theory.
This makes a lot of sense. I'm sure if any mainstream media newsource would cover it properly (beyond that putz Maher torpedoing it) the numbers would jump significantly.
And that number -- 5% (50 out of the 1000 polled) think the gov did it -- wow! And growing...
drip drip drip.
High numbers for impeachment, too.
That was a really good post, Shoes. Thanks. Sort of lifted my spirits in one area -- 9/11 -- just as another area that is near and dear to my heart -- family court reform -- seems to have taken a hit lately.
Absolutely right, h nic ... the numbers of people questioning the 9/11 "cover story" continue to grow, not only in this country, but all over the world.
I love this one, TV and white supremacy in one article, so I am finally on topic-ish...

I love it when producers are called to the mat when they allow boneheaded white supremacists views slip by them.
Now we have to wait for the secondary backlash of all the clueless idiots who say, "So what's the big deal?" Or "Oh, boy, better not say that one or else you might be accused of being a 'racist'" just after they say a racist remark. Damn straight, moron!
Back to the three rules of comedy (since this was supposed to be funny).
1) Never pick on the underdog (or somebody viewed as the underdog since even this premise isn't true in this case) unless you are one. Last I checked, Teri Hatcher isn't Filipino.
2) It has to be true. Not sure where the producers got the idea that medical degrees from the Philippines were bad -- I've never heard that before, even as a joke.
3) It has to be funny. It half passes here if you can fit the joke with a place reknown for poor medical degrees, but right now, I'm not sure what place in the world that would be. To me, the best joke would be to check to see if the doctor got his/her diploma from Yale, the place that supposedly "educated" Bush.

Al Gore on George W. Bush and Iraq: "George W. Bush betrayed this country! He played on our fears. He took America on an ill-conceived foreign adventure dangerous to our troops, an adventure preordained and planned before 9/11 ever took place."

Both polls were done by the same group, the Quinnipiac Polling Institute, and the only thing your post has achieved that is of any use to me is that it confirmed that the Quinnipiac Polling Institute probably does not do very reliable polling.
Usually, polls claim "such and such number of people were polled representing an accurate cross-section of likely voters across America" or some such thing. The only details given about the Quinnipiac Polling Institute polls is "The survey of some 1,900 voters." That's it. No claims that these people represent an accurate cross-section of America, and my guess is that they used the same people for both polls.
Since "John McCain" is number three on both lists, yet he is obviously near the bottom of all the other polls, and since Barrack Obama beats out Hillary Clinton on both polls as well, I suspect they just polled men only or maybe only people who tested positive for BVS (Biting Vaginae Syndrome) or some such shenanigans.
The real clue was when Condolezza Rice was fourth in the second poll. White Supremacists suffering from BVS love to rally around Condi because doing that is supposed to prove to the world that they are neither white supremacists nor sufferers of BVS.
Spears needs serious professional help for sure, starting with a lawyer and a manager who don't sell her up the river to the media sharks.
And how does punishing the two young boys [just 1 and 2 with no evidence of physical abuse -- and the "mental abuse" is once again subject to the opinions of people who are either clueless to the facts (i.e., the media and us) or are mostly financially motivated "experts" who either have no children themselves or are even more "abusive" to their own children, and who can easily go one way or another on whichever parent they choose to target -- including Mother Teresa, given the way things are set up in family court], kids who really don't give a rat's ass that their mother committed a fashion faux pas by "shaving her head" (at least according the the women-hating gay elite that apparently currently control Hollywood) or "gave a bad performance at the MTV awards" or "doesn't wear panties at parties" or "took them to a fast food place for lunch" or "barely tapped a parked car while being harassed by paparazzi" or "drove without license" or "went out partying with friends when the kids were with their father?"
WTF?
You are going to have to take every child away from every mother across America then, if these are the obviously neo-con-dictated standards being used.
And what about the most abusive thing a parent can do to a child, which Federline is 100% guilty of... keeping them away from the other parent for base financial reasons when there are 1000 alternatives that can be done to protect the children and protect the most important thing in all this -- protect the parent-child bond?
All I can say is thank goodness Rosie does not look to be splitting up with her partner any time soon. The "family law attorneys" working in conjunction with the press and the rest of the slimy family court neo-cons would have a field day taking her kids away from her and milking her for all she's worth.
Why? She posted a picture on her site once where her 4 year-old was in a moving car without a seatbelt.
Also, she posted a picture of the same 4 year-old dressed in army fatigues.
Look at that mommy child abuser! We must do something about this immediately!

Looks like women in Basra who commit fashion faux pas's have quite a different fate from Spears...
"In Basra, vigilantes wage deadly campaign against women"
http://tinyurl.com/2y5b59
"Often, the 'crime' is no more than wearing Western clothes or not wearing a head scarf."
Iraq was, without a doubt, the most progressive Middle-Eastern Muslim culture for women before the nazi-invasion. Apparently, that has changed significantly under the "new constitution."
Who was it that was claiming here that the nazis went in to save the Iraqi women and children?
"In Iraq under Saddam, if you are a woman, you could face:
Beheading. Under the pretext of fighting prostitution, units of "Fedayeen Saddam," the paramilitary organization led by Uday Hussein, Saddam's eldest son, have beheaded in public more than 200 women throughout the country, dumping their severed heads at their families' doorsteps. Many families have been required to display the victim's head on their outside fences for several days. These barbaric acts were carried out in the total absence of any proper judicial procedures and many of the victims were not engaged in prostitution, but were targeted for political reasons. For example, Najat Mohammad Haydar, an obstetrician in Baghdad, was beheaded after criticizing the corruption within health services. (Amnesty International Report, Iraq: Systematic Torture of Political Prisoners, August 2001; Iraqi Women's League in Damascus, Syria)
Rape. The Iraqi Government uses rape and sexual assault of women to achieve the following goals: to extract information and forced confessions from detained family members; to intimidate Iraqi oppositionists by sending videotapes showing the rape of female family members; and to blackmail Iraqi men into future cooperation with the regime. Some Iraqi authorities even carry personnel cards identifying their official "activity" as the "violation of women's honor." (U.S. Department of State, Country Reports on Human Rights Practices-2001, March 2002; Iraq Research and Documentation Project, Harvard University)
Torture. The Iraqi Government routinely tortures and kills female dissidents and the female relatives of Iraqi oppositionists and defectors. Victims include Safiyah Hassan, the mother of two Iraqi defectors, who was killed after publicly criticizing the Iraqi Government for killing her sons after their return to Iraq. Women in Saddam's jails are subjected to the following forms of torture: brutal beatings, systematic rape, electrical shocks, and branding. (U.S. Department of State, Country Reports on Human Rights Practices-2001, March 2002; U.S. Department of State, Iraq: A Population Silenced, December 2002)
Murder. In 1990, Saddam Hussein introduced Article 111 into the Iraqi Penal Code in a calculated effort to strengthen tribal support for his regime. This law exempts men who kill their female relatives in defense of their family's honor from prosecution and punishment. The UN Special Rapporteur on Violence Against Women reported that more than 4,000 women have been victims of so-called "honor killings" since Article 111 went into effect. (UN Commission on Human Rights, Report of the Special Rapporteur on Violence Against Women, January 2002)"
Of course since this comes from the US State department which is headed by a Black woman...we know it's an "op" paper really written by the KKK neocon nazis.
Yea, and they're a lot better off now?

"The vigilantes patrol the streets of Basra on motorbikes or in cars with dark-tinted windows and no license plates. They accost women who aren't wearing the traditional robe and head scarf known as hijab. Religious extremists in the city also have been known to attack men for clothes or even haircuts deemed too Western."
"Khalaf, who has a reputation for outspokenness in a city where that can get you killed, scoffed at the groups, calling them no better than criminal gangs."
Sounds to me like we haven't killed enough of the bad guys yet.
Ok, you're a genius.
I think I may have been duped here a little. How does this reporter know for sure who exactly is doing the killings or, now that I think about it, even why the killings were done?
Blackwater and other contractors don't only recruit from the US. They are an equal opportunity recruiter of religious extremists from around the world, including locally in Iraq, and I can just as easily see them behind this in some way as much as "independent" rogue local extremists.
The verifiable fact that the dead mutilated bodies of women are being found scattered around Basra is all I'm believing for now until further notice.
I am taking this as good news. It will be interesting to see how Craig votes on upcoming occupation issues and especially on upcoming impeachment issues.

Wondered how long it would take you to figure that out...rest of them figured it out by the time I was in 4th grade.
Not allowing torture is going to break the hearts of a lot of sexually repressed neo-cons, that's for sure. What? No more waterboarding? How am I going to live out my favorite S&M fantasies?

I'm pretty sure it's closer to "delusions of grandeur" there, Life.
And hate to burst your bubble, but disrupting class because you are "bored" is not a sign of genius, no matter how much lazy parents insist on taking this route, and actually encourage their children to act this way, when teachers put out a plea for help.
Turns out true geniuses never get bored. More often than not, they have the maturity and mental capacity to entertain themselves w/o disruption. Disrupters are actually suffering from a host of other things, many of which have little to do with mental capacity.
Hmmmm. I wonder if they just leave holes in the places where they take out the rock core samples, or if somebody comes along after them and replaces the cores with anything. And aren't companies who look for oil really good at this kind of stuff?

"never get bored."
Only thing that bores me is lack of a challenge with worthy adversaries. Kinda' keep hoping some will turn up here, but so far...nada.
The Bush Legacy
Seems as if everyone, even outside of the liberal blogosphere, is starting to realize that Bush's plan is just to leave the messes he has created to his successor, which is accompanied by the growing sense of how badly he has failed across a broad spectrum of issues.
"It's hard to find something he has done that really has improved the situation a great deal," Stephen J. Wayne, a Georgetown University presidential scholar, tells the AP.
Or as former Bush campaign strategist Matthew Dowd puts it: "We're in a worse place than we were in 1999."
--David Kurtz
WHO HATES AMERICA??
Consider the state of play on these and other issues:
_The economy is relatively sound and deficits are falling after peaking in 2004. But an entire presidency of red ink has ballooned the overall federal debt from $5.7 trillion when Bush became president to $8.9 trillion now. The Iraq war, including providing medical care and disability benefits to veterans, as well as expensive new programs like a Medicare prescription drug benefit threaten to drive deficits back up. Economists fear growing odds of a recession.
_The nation's health care spending, public and private, totaled $1.5 trillion when Bush took office. By the time he leaves, it is expected to be $2.6 trillion _ a 75 percent increase. Meanwhile, the nation's number of uninsured has swelled, from 14 percent of the population in 2001 to 16 percent last year, or a total of 47 million people.
_Now in its fifth year, the Iraq war has claimed the lives of more than 3,800 members of the U.S. military and more than 73,000 Iraqi civilians, wounded over 28,000 U.S. military personnel, and cost nearly half a trillion dollars. Even if combat ends, Bush says the United States will need to provide military, economic and political support beyond his presidency and have "an enduring relationship" with Iraq.
_No domestic terrorist attack has followed those of Sept. 11, 2001. But the intelligence community concluded in July, nearly six years after the attacks, that al-Qaida has been allowed to re-centralize and rejuvenate itself in Pakistan, where the still-missing Osama bin Laden is believed to be hiding.
_Energy prices are volatile, and high. The cost of a barrel of oil has soared during Bush's presidency, from $29 to about $80 a barrel. Gas prices averaged $1.45 a gallon in 2001 and now are running about $2.80 _ a 93 percent increase.
_With 78 million baby boomers beginning to retire, Social Security and Medicare move closer to insolvency each day. The Social Security trust fund is expected to last until 2041, while Medicare's will be exhausted much earlier, by 2019. Bush tried to overhaul Social Security but couldn't find enough votes even when Republicans controlled the Congress.
_Bush tried unsuccessfully to make dramatic changes in the nation's immigration laws. There are an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in the country and a few hundred thousand more come in each year.
I am defining disruption as useless waste of other people's time for a personal agenda other than fact-finding.
One good example of what I call disruption is the pages and pages of crap from you, Life, in response to one simple question from me -- a question that I am putting out there in general as I myself try to track down the information: what is the maximum airspeed and handling of a commercial 757 at sea level?
Instead of saying, "Gee, I don't know for sure. Let's go see what's out there on this," what I've seen so far is a complete waste of time to me. No links, no data, no stories, just crap.
So I made a helpful summary so far of some of the "scientific challenges" you and I have had concerning 9/11 issues. These are some claims you have made that I have disagreed with...
1) It is impossible to fly commerical airliner-sized planes by remote control
2) Commercial 757's can do 500 mph at sea level with only a bit of minor shaking -- nothing somebody who has never flown the plane before can't handle
3) From the ground, you can see passengers in the windows of commerical airliners flying by.
4) The nose of the plane only appears to pierce through WTC2 but it didn't really because of top secret information yet to be revealed concerning compressed video footage
5) Thermite doesn't explode
6) Lasers can't be used to trigger chemical explosions because in order to do this, it would require steel to go from solid to gaseous phase.
7) The spire only appears to turn to dust but it didn't really because of top secret information yet to be revealed concerning compressed video footage
8) Don't even ask me to explain what was observed in the video footage of the entire leeward side (the East side) of WTC1 when a dust cloud from the destruction of WTC2 came in contact with it.
9) Don't even ask me to explain what was observed with all those cars near ground zero where the engine blocks and door handles were eaten away, but practically nothing else, after being engulfed in dust clouds from the destructions of the towers.
The economy is relatively sound and deficits are falling after peaking in 2004.
Ya' gotta' spend money to make money. USGDP has grown from $9.8T to $13.1T. Dow has gone up from 11.5k to 14k+.
Thank the Trial lawyers and idiot judges for the majority of that. Many doctors have stopped practicing due to skyrocketing malpractice insurance rates because of the proliferation of lawsuits. And illegal immigrants are often counted in that number, overinflating the actual number of uninsured.
That many men died in about an hour on D-Day. No one wants war or likes to see soldiers or civilians killed. But, it's called WAR! That's what happens in a war, and we are at war against the terrorists. The US has played "nice guy" and used "limited warfare" too long.
No attacks have happened because the US is still the best at intelligence gathering and we have stopped countless attacks that were in the planning stages. And we should have told the rest of the world to kiss our ass and not stopped until we had that sob's head on a stick. "Limited warfare" is a bad policy.
_Energy prices are volatile, and high. The cost of a barrel of oil has soared during Bush's presidency, from $29 to about $80 a barrel. Gas prices averaged $1.45 a gallon in 2001 and now are running about $2.80 _ a 93 percent increase.
Thank the tree huggers and trial lawyers for that one also. The US has enough oil, gas, and coal reserves to last something on the order of about 3-400 years(if not more) if we could just get to it. We have more oil in shale/sand oil than all the Mideast combined. When oil companies are held hostage and have to buy raw product from assholes like Venezuela and Russia and the like, their cost skyrockets and we pay the price. If the oil companies could get their product here at home and be allowed to build new efficient refineries and production facilities, we could tell the OPEC's of the world to fk off. Homeowners should get 100% tax credit for installing solar, wind, and geothermal products and the market would boom. But the libbys would cry "Tax cuts for the rich". In 2005 the top 1% of taxpayers paid 39.4% of all taxes paid. The "rich" cover everybody else's ass.
Yup, that's right, if all the bastards had been run out of town on a rail when they started dipping into it, we'd be better off. But, when you're supporting a lazy ass welfare society that is now in it's 4th generation and none of them have ever had a job....and the Gubmint PAYS you to have children out of wedlock...ppfffttt..And now Hilly wants to GIVE $5000 to every newborn...WTF?!?!?! They'll be breeding like rabbits...and that means white/black/red/yellow/brown...all of 'em.
_Bush tried unsuccessfully to make dramatic changes in the nation's immigration laws. There are an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in the country and a few hundred thousand more come in each year.
They're ILLEGAL. They should all be rounded up and their ass shipped out of the country. Put a hell of a lot of people to work rounding them up and free up jobs for Americans and LEGAL immigrants. The horseshit fallacy that "They do the jobs Americans won't do" is patent bullshit. Companies that hire illegals should be fined about a million per employee and that crap would cease real damn quick. And since when should yours and my tax dollars pay for their gdam medical bills and so on?
You never heard me say GWB or anybody else was the best and did everything the right way. They're all to blame. This country is goin' to hell in a hand basket pretty gdam quick unless we get tough on the criminals and scumbags who abuse the system and their fellow citizens. And the "rest of the world" can kiss my lily white ass when it comes to "being nice".
"pages and pages of crap"...that pretty much sums up all I've seen from you nic. You don't believe any gdam thing I say, so what the hell's the point anymore.
Your wild ass speculation and conjecture are just that. Just because you and Dr Fruity and a bunch of other whack jobs want to believe it was all done by "ops" and "trolls" and "insiders" and all your other paranoid delusions is no reason for me and everyone else I know to believe it.
Since I have first come here after finding this on RO's blog, I have told several hundred people about what we talk about on here and they just laugh their ass off at you "Truthers". I'm nice compared to what some of them say about people like you all.
1) It is impossible to fly commerical airliner-sized planes by remote control
I NEVER said that. I know better and know more about "drones" and airplanes than you'll ever know.
2) Commercial 757's can do 500 mph at sea level with only a bit of minor shaking -- nothing somebody who has never flown the plane before can't handle
No reason why they can't, especially in a descent with full power on.
3) From the ground, you can see passengers in the windows of commerical airliners flying by.
Wanta' borrow my glasses? At low altitude and only yards away, a "glimpse" is possible.
4) The nose of the plane only appears to pierce through WTC2 but it didn't really because of top secret information yet to be revealed concerning compressed video footage
Something obviously came through the building. So what? If it was the nose cone where is it? Where are the pictures of it on the ground?
5) Thermite doesn't explode
Technically it doesn't. It can burn faster than hell giving the impression of "exploding". How much explosive work have you done in your life? Not as much as me.
6) Lasers can't be used to trigger chemical explosions because in order to do this, it would require steel to go from solid to gaseous phase.
Never said that either. In order for your missing mass to happen though, that's what would have had to happen. And lasers/particle beams don't work through dust clouds.
7) The spire only appears to turn to dust but it didn't really because of top secret information yet to be revealed concerning compressed video footage
The spire didn't turn to dust. You only see it turn to dust because you want to see it do that.
8) Don't even ask me to explain what was observed in the video footage of the entire leeward side (the East side) of WTC1 when a dust cloud from the destruction of WTC2 came in contact with it.
Nothing. You only see what you want to see.
9) Don't even ask me to explain what was observed with all those cars near ground zero where the engine blocks and door handles were eaten away, but practically nothing else, after being engulfed in dust clouds from the destructions of the towers.
Those cars were towed from Ground Zero and parked there to make room for rescue and salvage operations. There were fires everywhere that day. Again, you only see what you want to see to justify your speculations and conjectures.
Again, it's all pointless anyway. I could say the sun sets in the west and you'd come up with some "op" or other pseudo science to prove me wrong.
Your "facts" are only "facts" to you. I still say it was Xenu and The Body Thetans....PROVE me wrong...I have the "Science & Facts" to prove it.
MS:So, you the"educated" one is a regular on the Fake Dog Poop site.

"The video I took at the airshow, the announcer says 350kts or over 600kmh."
"The maximum allowable speed at sea level for any 757 with flaps and gear up in level flight is 340 knots"
"2. The 250 knot speed limitation below 10,000' is not an absolute limitation. The airplane is quite capable of faster speed and depending on the type of operation (military ops) the operator may see that is necessary to have a higher limitation. The reason for the 250 knot below 10,000' limitation is that the windshields are only designed to withstand a bird strike with windshield heat off up to 250 knots below 10,000'. It just so happens that this is the speed limit for US operations designated by the FAA and is why the windshields are designed to this standard."
...and there's still a factor of .5 structural "overbuild" required by the FAA so the 757 is MORE than capable of flying 500+ MPH at sea level. For structural "failure" to be induced, speed would have to approach/exceed Mach and then failure would be instantaneous and total. As in a nose dive from high altitude.
Seems as if everyone, even outside of the liberal blogosphere, is starting to realize that Bush's plan is just to leave the messes he has created to his successor, which is accompanied by the growing sense of how badly he has failed across a broad spectrum of issues.

You can believe it, but it would be incorrect. It was "Juggling the books" that made it appear that we had a surplus.

Clinton Budget Surplus...another myth busted!!
Unlike Bush who has spent all your social security money and your kids money...
Worst president, ever. Period.
That's why the Line Item Veto is necessary. To cut out all the earmark pork barrel BS that Congress spends the money on. And I never said I was real happy with Dubya's spending habits either.
The reason we can't get out of Iraq is that none of the opportunists dares to admit why he or she wanted to make a war there in the first place, and so we, the American people, don't actually know what the goal was and can't ever judge whether it has been achieved. Though Cheney's goal was to secure the oil, he can't admit that to the Iraqis, who don't want to give up the oil. If the Iraqis' goal was to use our military to fight the battle and then take over themselves, they ceded that goal every time they flattered the Americans. If the Israelis consider their existence to be worth every American sacrifice of money, corruption, and human life, they dare not say so. If the military industrial complex really is happy to profit from death and destruction, do they actually pretend to their children that they are human? A lot of PTSD says they do. I could go on.
In order to gain power, the Republicans long ago (and knowingly, thanks, Mr. Atwater and others) handed the citizenry, and themselves, a bill of goods, a set of philosophical and economic ideas that were bankrupt. The citizenry, suckers that we were, bought it because it appealed to their worst selves. The price we have paid and will continue to pay in Iraq for this bad bargain is a steep one, and could break the bank. But if we don't understand how we got here, we could buy it again, because the politicians and the pundits still have it for sale.
